Praise for Believe!

FROM PASTORS WHO HAVE USED THE PROGRAM

I think my preaching is stronger—because the material is rich and I have conviction and passion for the topics. I was so passionate about Church because some people have left over our building program and other changes. The chapter helped me to talk about unity, love, gifting and how the church grows as each part does its work.
–Pastor Mike McClenahan, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, CA

Our people have all appreciated the idea of knowing the story of God and being challenged to “live the story.” …I have had many people share with me how blessed they have been to be in the study of Believe at this particular time in their life. The most response I have received so far is in regard to Personal God. People truly need to know and believe they have a God Who truly does care about them!
Rev John Mueller, St Luke Lutheran Church & School, Santa Rosa, CA

The congregation is really enjoying the movement, the building each week, adding another layer of not just teaching and understanding, but an incredible appreciation for all these doctrines. Every week it’s like building another room onto your house that you’re going to enjoy. I’ve been inundated with emails from people who are really loving it. This can preach! This is a great experience. We order books every week – it’s incredible.
Pastor John Collins, First Church of Christ, Altoona PA

I’m enjoying helping church members go through similar things I did in seminary. I wasn’t sure how to pare it all down from seminary to this, and you’ve done it! … I am really pleased with the study guides, the DVD of Randy Frazee’s teaching, his Think, Act, Be book is great for sermon prep, each of the different print resources, the memory verse cards, the stop motion art videos, all very well done and appreciated…
Pastor Greg Taylor, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK

CREATING POSITIVE LIFE-CHANGE

People LOVE the messages coming out of this series and the small group material helps to drive everything home. I think every week people come up to the pastor and say, “That’s exactly what I needed to hear…so simple”
Gretchen Nordlund, Epiphany Station, Thief River Falls, MN

Our church services have been revived each week of our study of Believe. I have seen many changes in our worship services and our small group discussions. Our class has enjoyed and learned a lot about ourselves through the study. I have personally had a change in my own Bible study habits.
Jane K. Petty, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

Our chapter on “Humanity” touched a few lives so that they want to be more involved in missions, both locally and nationally.
Pastor Chuck Hildbold, Jennerstown United Methodist Church, Jennerstown, PA

One family that has a 6th grade girl and a 3rd grade boy told us that the whole family was grasping the concept of the Trinity. The parents come from a very devout Church of Christ background, so they have been taught lots of doctrine… Randy’s presentation of the Trinity, especially in the Believe Storybook, was the best stuff they ever got.
Pastor Steve Moore, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

FOR EVERY LIFE STAGE

Great for newer Christians, but also provokes thought in ‘seasoned’ Christians alike. Really appreciate how the book combines the Old and New Testaments.
John Nesbit, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

I think Believe is a good study for “newbies” as well as a refresher for more mature Christians. No matter where you are in the faith spectrum, there is something to be learned. I think our discussion time is really good and serves as a reminder to continue working at living out our faith.
Tony Schmoll, St Luke Lutheran Church & School, Santa Rosa, CA

Believe has been a true catalyst for outreach. We’ve had folks coming to our mid-week “Believe Family Night” (BFN) before joining us for Sunday mornings. They’ve engaged in the small group sessions and are excited and growing. Our mid-week BFN brings together a cross-section of folks from our three different worship services, and folks from the community as well as seasoned church members. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to gather in diversity and discuss our faith while being informed with solid theological content.
Pastor Tim Roberts, Stuart Congregational Church, Stuart, FL

The class, as well as me their leader, are really thinking about what we really believe. It is a growing experience. I can see spiritual maturity already in the class.
Carolyn Cash, Adult Ministries Leader, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

I teach senior women (most in their 70s, all ranging from 50 to 80). Most are examining their beliefs that they have had for decades.
Ginger Co, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

Our ministry leaders love the focus and the preparation ahead with a schedule and book to read. They appreciate the topics that work for new believer and mature believer alike. This is a surprise for most of our leaders, that we can all talk about these issues together and go as deep as we need to. Believe is helpful for not only intergenerational but inter-”maturity” conversations.
Pastor Mike McClenahan, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, CA

We have had some unchurched people begin attending our community group and I feel that this study has helped to answer some of their questions about what it means/looks like to be a Jesus follower.
Deb Youngbar, Smithsburg Valley Church, Smithsburg, MD

We are a six-year-old church where about 60% of our attendees have had no previous church experience in the past five years. Many of these people are growing quite a lot in their understanding, along with others who have a more churched background.
Pastor Jeff Gauss, Epiphany Station, Thief River Falls, MN

Our class is young and the great thing about 2nd and 3rd grade is that they are usually up for about anything. We have a great time in class. Presented with love and acceptance, these kids will learn to THINK, ACT AND BE LIKE JESUS with great enthusiasm. I have taught this class for 8 years and it is such a blessing to see these kids growing up and becoming stronger in their Christian faith. This curriculum is a great way to help them on that journey.
Roxie Roach, Woodland Heights Christian Church, Crawfordsville, IN

As a teacher of Young Married Couples, I feel they are understanding the Bible more because of the scripture and explanations presented by Randy Frazee. It is like connecting the dots for them. Our Pastor’s messages have been tied in so well each week to the material. It is a wonderful experience to be a part of a church with everyone involved in the same study.
Claudia Fowler, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

With such a wide variety of faith levels in our group, the series is providing a good springboard for all of us to discuss basic beliefs.
Member, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, CA

A BIBLE-CENTRIC CURRICULUM

We have not had to change anything to fit our denomination. It is straight from the Bible and you can’t go wrong with that.
Roxie Roach, Woodland Heights Christian Church, Crawfordsville, IN

The weekly theme and Scripture layout gives us a great template to work off of for integrating all areas of ministry from young to old and throughout small groups. Really nice to have the Believe Bible in everyone’s hands to be reading at home; much more effective than having them simply read their own Bibles from a list of references.
Paula Taylor, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, CA

Pastor Tim Rolen preached to standing room only crowds at our three Sunday services yesterday. The word is out that the content of this BELIEVE study is rooted in the simple truths of the Bible that should be driving our daily lives.
Nancy Horton, New Hope Community Church, Clovis, CA

Glad for an opportunity to memorize scripture and to see and believe anew. Very refreshing.
Ilene Davis, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK

Participants are memorizing and reading their books. We ask each week for people, young and old, to recite their memory verses in our worship service! It’s great, and we are encouraging everyone saying “You are going to get to end of this thirty weeks and you will have memorized thirty verses!” Some have never memorized at all.
Pastor Greg Taylor, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK

INCREASING CHURCH UNITY

Oh we are PUMPED! It’s awesome to see our church whole welcoming this study into our lives right now. There is an excitement in church that I have never experienced before. And growing up in church I have always enjoyed it every Sunday and never dreaded it but I get excited now and never want to miss a Sunday because of something or sickness.
Clari Spencer, Youth Leader, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

We enjoyed the fact that every level of church goer had a Believe book of some form to study from. Families enjoyed that they were all studying the same topic.
Nancy Horton, Campaign Director, New Hope Community, Clovis, CA

Our church is very excited about Believe. It has promoted new interest and commitment to small groups. It is so helpful for families to all be talking about the same thing across the board.
Laura Warner, Christbridge Fellowship, Tomball, TX

It has provided a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum that the entire church is working through together. This fits with our core values of unity, humility, and clarity.
Pastor Tom Moore, Pleasant Hills Community Church, Pittsburgh, PA

Our leadership enjoys the experience of the whole church being on the “same page” week after week.
Pastor Bryon McIntyre, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

Week after week people submit comment cards saying they are loving knowing how to talk with their children about what they’re learning.
Nancy Horton, New Hope Community Church, Clovis, CA

CONTRIBUTING TO CHURCH GROWTH

We have tied in some Decision Sundays in the first seven weeks. Next Sunday we are baptizing 17 people who have come to know the Lord since we first started the study. Attendance is up 15%. The congregation is engaged. Each week more people sign the BELIEVE Wall. Some people have sent emails expressing appreciation for the continuity of this study and that they are understanding things they had not grasped before.
Pastor Tim Rolen, New Hope Community, Clovis, CA

I wanted to share that we had five people make commitments to Christ this past weekend when we talked about Salvation! Everyone is loving Believe.
Pastor Jeff Gauss, Epiphany Station (church of 280), Thief River Falls, MN

We were able to add 15 new small groups this fall because of the content, especially new believers or attenders to our church. Surprising, but people want to know what Christians believe. I love the emphasis on living what we believe, which is always convicting.
Pastor Mike McClenahan, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Solana Beach, CA

I just got the stats on Week 1 of Believe for Ten Mile Church. We had just shy of 2300 people here. [Average attendance last year at the beginning of The Story was 1600.] Our offering was 44% beyond our weekly need. Now that our core folks are grasping this, I think we will see them start buying books for neighbors and family.
Pastor Steve Moore, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

We have increased our Sunday school average attendance since we started and have a new Sunday night small group that meets together to discuss Believe.
Pastor Bryon McIntyre, Macedonia Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC

IMPACTING SMALL GROUPS

I have loved the Adult Believe materials. Believe has been wonderful to hear from Pastor Rick on Sunday morning, then private time of study all week at home, then finish on Saturdays in small group. It really gives time to absorb the weekly message. It has been the most helpful and enjoyable Bible study I have been a part of.
Cynthia A. Hughes, ChristBridge Fellowship, Tomball, TX

The Adult Believe curriculum “teaches” better than most I tried over the years. Good Job!
Pastor Steve Wilke, Woodland Heights Christian Church, Crawfordsville, IN

Randy’s videos apply to my life. His honesty and humility and personal stories and struggles help relate ancient texts to my life.
Scott Carey, Pleasant Hills Community Church, Pittsburgh, PA

I love the idea that we aren’t teachers but guides. The class structure recommended in your materials has led our participants to be honest, open and transparent.
John Dickman, Student Ministries Leader, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK

People LOVE the videos by Randy. I cannot say enough about how much the videos help our groups.
Shelly Boeglin, St Stephens United Methodist Church, Albuquerque, NM

The study guide has been phenomenal in our home group setting. It sparks great conversation.
Molly Richardson, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

The discussion generated by the book and videos has been extraordinary.
Jeff Kuchenbecker, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison, WI

Enthusiastic! Wow! Powerful stuff. I really like the teaching videos for Bible study. The study guides are really good without being overpowering. I like how leaders don’t have “answer books” but have the same book as others.
Pastor Greg Taylor, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK

I have seen everyone really enjoy using this material because there is so much available to them and they can use as little or as much as they like.
Gretchen Nordlund, Epiphany Station, Thief River Falls, MN

Participants are very positive and engaged. The group as a whole has been prepared, supportive of each other and respectful of different perspectives. I think the experiences shared by all have helped participants grow in their personal beliefs and understanding of the Bible and God’s will.
Nina Boyd, Christ Our Redeemer African Methodist Episcopalian Church, Irvine, CA

I am very much enjoying this experience in reading Believe and co-leading our small group with my husband. It has been a unique experience that has helped my spiritual growth, my relationship with my husband and fellow participants.
Nina Boyd, Christ Our Redeemer African Methodist Episcopalian Church, Irvine, CA

GROWING IN A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR BELIEFS

It has gotten the folks into the Word, studying various topics that they might not otherwise read about.
Pastor Chuck Hildbold, Jennerstown United Methodist Church, Jennerstown, PA

People are saying things like: “This is different, this is taking me deeper, this is making me think about what I think about this stuff, the people in my home group are saying that they are putting these ideas into their own words, not just using church jargon.”
Pastor Steve Moore, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

Last night I led my Home Group in studies on our new series “Believe.” I wanted to tell you what a powerful lesson it was. We followed the study guide and I also laid out some other stuff to look at for the group. All participants agreed that at the initial look at this topic (Who is God) it seemed overwhelming. After working through the material though we had one of the most productive learning sessions in a long time.
Craig Graf, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian ID

The Believe book has sparked some great discussion in our small groups. People are opening up about their beliefs and it has been great to see. Some have started examining their beliefs and trying to understand where they come from and how they developed.
Pastor Dara Schuller, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison, WI

The chapter topics have been awesome. People have enjoyed discussing these broader topics of Christian belief and some have said these are the best discussions they have ever had about the Christian faith.
Pastor Dara Schuller, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison, WI

People are very enthusiastic. … They feel like it is pulling a lot of information together that they have had over the years, but this is bringing it into focus and really simplifying it.
Sally Harris, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

As a believer it has helped me to establish a more complete and comprehensive outline of my own beliefs and better equips me for sharing these thoughts.
Michael Martin, Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

There has been a lot of positive feedback from participants who have been doing their work at home during the week. These people are very excited to learn about owning their own beliefs as well as getting into God’s transformative word on a regular basis.
David LeDoux, Garnett Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK
